Residents share creative talents

RUNCORN residents have been surprised to discover hidden talents.
They formed a ‘knit and natter’ group and have been amazed to find they share so many skills.
The group started as part of Riverside’s LiveTime project to encourage tenants to socialise and keep hobbies and interests alive.
Joan Cook, aged 73, of Sparrowhawk Close, said: “We have had various crafts, patchwork, knitting, sewing and jigsaws.
“We have produced beanie hats for the troops and knitted teddy puppet mittens for Operation Christmas Child.
“We want to emphasise that folk are very welcome to come along and have a cuppa and not feel they have to do anything.”
Steve Falconer, aged 62, of Charlton Close, is making a Roman villa out of cardboard.
Marie Gill, aged 66, of Iveagh Close, and Angela Phillipson, aged 67, of Hallwood Park Avenue, have knitted purses, hats and scarves for needy children overseas.
They meet in Palacefields Community Centre on Thursday mornings.
